After School Programs and Mentoring
Silicon Valley Design and Technology (SVDT) is excited to offer unique and challenging programs for the intrepid student interested in diving deeper into design and technology focused subjects. Founded and run by Adam Jackrel, an experienced educator with years of professional D&T knowledge, SVDT introduces students to new opportunities rarely found in after school programs. Here at SVDT, we encourage students to be risk-takers. To find their talent or their passion. To find themselves!
Example lessons and activities that are offered:
Programming: Intro to Programming (using Python, Java, Processing), Advanced Programming (AP prep, Python scripting, iOS programming, Game programming)
EXAMPLE PROJECTS: Coding an app (iOS and Android), video game, digital art
Design: Design Technology, Game Design
EXAMPLE PROJECTS: Constructing architectural models, designing/developing physical games (can be tied to programming activity above as time allows)
Physical Computing: Designing, assembling, programming electronics to interact with its user and/or environment
EXAMPLE PROJECTS: Autonomous robots, automated planters, synthesizers, musical instruments, etc!
For those students that are already well travelled in their search to a lifelong passion or professional career, SVDT also offers specialized mentorship for guidance and support. Putting students in direct contact with industry professionals to give them a leg-up in their self-discovery.
Adam Jackrel has degrees in Computer Science and Game Design from New York University. Since 2012, he has worked with renowned scientists, technologists, performers, and creatives of nearly every type. Adam has a deep passion for design and technology and loves sharing that passion with students.
All lessons will be group based with one instructor (Mr. Jackrel) to every 4 students.
